Method
- In an Old Fashioned or Mojito glass, add the cane sugar (or cane sugar syrup) and lime juice.
- Add the fresh mint leaves to the glass. Gently muddle the mint leaves to release their aromas without crushing them too much.
- Fill the glass two-thirds full with crushed ice.
- Pour in the white rum, then the pineapple juice.
- Stir gently with a cocktail spoon or long spoon, ensuring all ingredients are mixed without over-stirring.
- Garnish with pineapple slices and fresh mint leaves.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
You can add a cucumber slice for extra refreshment. For a non-alcoholic version, replace the rum with sparkling water or extra pineapple juice. If you don't like lime, you can use lemon, but the taste will be slightly different. To make perfect crushed ice, crush ice cubes in a freezer bag using a rolling pin. Preparing the sugar syrup in advance will save time. To do this, mix equal parts water and sugar and heat until completely dissolved.
