Method
- Roughly chop the shrimp into small pieces.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the garlic for a few seconds until fragrant. Add the chopped shrimp, paprika, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are cooked through.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the parsley, chives, and lemon juice. Mix well and let cool slightly before assembling.
- Take a phyllo pastry sheet. If necessary, cut it in half. Place a spoonful of shrimp filling at one end of the sheet. Fold the sides inwards, then roll tightly to form a cigar. Seal the closure with a little melted butter or water.
- Brush the cigars with melted butter or vegetable oil. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional). Arrange the cigars on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake at 200°C (convection) for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. For frying, fry quickly in hot oil until golden brown.
Notes
Feel free to add your own personal touches! You can replace the shrimp with chicken, fish, or even vegetables. For a spicier version, add some fresh chili or sriracha sauce to the filling. And for an exotic touch, some fresh coriander will be perfect!
