Chocolate Cake and Cheesecake Trifle

Ingredients
  

  • 300 g chocolate cake baked and crumbled
  • 250 g cream cheese softened
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 300 g whipped cream thawed and lightly whipped (optional)
  • 500 ml chocolate pudding
  • 200 ml chocolate sauce or ganache
  • chocolate truffles or chocolate balls for decoration
  • chocolate shavings for decoration

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in half of the whipped cream (if using). Set aside.
  2. In a trifle bowl or glass serving dish, layer the crumbled chocolate cake, half of the cream cheese mixture, chocolate pudding, and some chocolate sauce.
  3. Repeat layers: cake, cream cheese mixture, pudding, and chocolate sauce. Top with remaining whipped cream (if using) or cream cheese mixture.
  4. Decorate with chocolate truffles or balls and chocolate shavings.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably 2-3 hours, before serving.

Notes

Add fresh berries between layers for extra flavor. Use dark chocolate cake for a more intense chocolate flavor. Substitute pudding flavor as desired. Prepare the trifle the day before for best results.
